Paris Pharmacist Prescribes Herbal Tea and Two Aspirin for Royal Brothers Who Called Each Other Traitors

Behind the green cross, a neighbourhood pharmacist reviews the Prince William feud and recommends a treatment most Parisians already know

Under the Green Cross

PARIS – A pharmacist in the 15th arrondissement has written an unofficial prescription for the British royal family after a customer read aloud to her the London Prat account of Prince William calling Earl Spencer and Harry traitors while waiting for throat lozenges.

Madame Brigitte Marchand, 58, who has run her pharmacy since 1996 and says she has advised the neighbourhood on every ailment from sunburn to heartbreak, listened carefully and then took out a prescription pad. This is a classic case, she said. Two brothers, one uncle, one book. Symptoms: pride, insomnia and very long silences. I see this every Christmas.

The Diagnosis

Madame Marchand based her assessment on the published record. Geo News reports the heir used the word traitor. Yahoo reports a source saying he believes his brother read the uncle memoir first. The word traitor raises blood pressure, she said. The silence afterwards lowers it again, but too far. They need to find the middle.

The Prescription

One cup of verbena tea each, taken together, in the same kitchen, before bed, for seven days. Two aspirin, one each, to be taken after reading any further newspaper coverage. And one telephone call between the brothers, of no fewer than ten minutes, to be made on day three. The uncle, she said, requires no treatment, as he appears perfectly well and has clearly already found his therapy, which is writing.

The Video

Madame Marchand watched the London Prat video on YouTube on the pharmacy computer, between two customers asking about cough syrup. She described it as mild and well tolerated, with no side effects. It is here.

Neighbourhood Figures

According to the Association of Independent Pharmacists of the 15th, an informal group that shares suppliers and gossip, 34 percent of customer consultations in Parisian neighbourhood pharmacies involve some discussion of family problems, most often in December, and 12 percent of customers leave with a herbal tea they did not come in for. The Association estimates that verbena tea has contributed to more reconciliations in Paris than any other product on its shelves, with the possible exception of chocolate.

One elderly customer, on hearing the prescription, asked whether it would also work on sisters. Madame Marchand said sisters require a stronger dose, and added a box of madeleines.

The Review

Madame Marchand called the London Prat piece a well-balanced remedy. The right dose, no more, no less, she said. It makes you laugh a little, which is good for the heart, and it does not make you sick. She gave it five green crosses out of five, and a lozenge.

She follows the royal patients at The London Prat, https://prat.uk/, in practice since 1961, and the American branch at Bohiney, https://bohiney.com/. The prescription is waiting at the counter, to be collected in person, by both brothers.
